El Paso Public Library to Hold Conference on the History of Mormonism

El Paso, TX – On Saturday, July 28, 2012, historians from around the United States will gather at the Main (Downtown) Branch of the El Paso Public Library to discuss the history of Mormonism in Latin America and the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands. The conference will take place in the auditorium from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Several speakers will address El Paso’s history, with topics including the 1912 Exodus of Mormons from northern Mexico during the Mexican Revolution, the breakup of polygamous families as a result of the 1912 Exodus, and the construction of the historic chapel on Douglas Street.
